making money through ppc advertising

Okay it has been a number of years since I used adwords but am thinking about launching a couple campaigns this week.

So I am wondering, what exactly makes someone go to your ad. I don't mean good copy and that kind of thing. But why would anyone bother to look at the ads on the right.

When I search for things, my eyes don;t even go that side of that page. I don;t even see those boxes.

Does anyone really believe you get any traffic an conversions from advertising this way.

A good text in your ad is essential for people to click on your ad and visit your site.
