meta tag for keywords

I read the other day by someone whose info is usually quite accurate. He said none of the major search engines even use the meta tag for keywords anymore.

He said that the only meta tags in the top of the doc that are relevant are the title and description.

Is this old news? Did everyone else know this already?

I read the same thing. Most gurus are saying don;t waste your time because of the spam element so the keyword tags are not even useful.

I see some people saying they help a bit in directing the search engines to know the topic but in general they say forget it.

The good adult webmasters seem to always be ahead of mainstream with technology and stuff and it was actually on one of the more known adult forums that I read it was a waste of time.

Meta tags indeed are no longer as imp. as they used to be. Most SEs look at the title & description nowadays... But including meta tags can still be useful, & there are some (eg. meta refresh) which have their own uses...
